An Introduction to the Division / Specialty from Dr Nigel Artis - Divisional Clinical Director
The Medical Division at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals provides acutecare across the range of medical specialities in a large modern purpose-builthospital in Wakefield, which includes a large Acute Assessment Unit, AcuteElderly Assessment Unit, Coronary Care and Acute (Respiratory) Care Unit. We also provide care for Acute ElderlyAdmissions and step-down care for patients in a less acute phase of theiradmission at Dewsbury & District Hospital.
Successful applicants will support speciality teams in AcuteCare, Cardiology, Respiratory, Diabetes/Endocrine, Gastroenterology, Stroke& Elderly Medicine teams in the management of their in-patient &out-patient workload and will participate in out-of-hours cover across bothhospital sites.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the post will include:
Provisionof care with responsibility for the management of patients with acute andchronic conditions including complex cases
Referralof patients to other specialities as appropriate
Out-patientactivities/clinics
Involvementin specialty and cross-specialty multi-disciplinary teams and meetings
Involvementin relevant administration duties
Teachingand supervision of junior medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate
Activeinvolvement in audit and clinical governance including service improvementactivities

The Service Role
From a clinical perspective these posts willparticipate in the cross site senior trainee rota. The senior trainee rota is compliant with the2016 junior doctor contract averaging 48 hours per week. The illustrative rota pattern is attached tothis job description.
Duties will be based primarily on our PinderfieldsHospital site although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care topatients on all our sites.

Theabove list is not intended to be exhaustive and it is likely duties may bealtered from time to time in the light of changing circumstances and afterdiscussion with the post holder.
The MYDocTraining Programme Educational Input & Recognition
Doctors appointed to a MYDoc post will receiverelevant educational input. Each doctor will beallocated an Educational Supervisor and will be required to develop aPersonalised Work Schedule.
The weeklytimetable should include a balance of these activities appropriate to yourgrade, role and training requirements.You are required to maintain a dialogue with your Clinical andEducational Supervisor to ensure the balance of these activities meets yourdevelopmental needs.
Whilst not a recognised training post Doctors successfully completing their training programme willbe awarded a Certificate of Achievement from the Trust. Doctors will use established work-placebased assessment (WPBA) tools to chart progress and keep relevant evidencein an electronic portfolio system. There will be an annual review of progress based on evidence within theportfolios including the WPBA, 360 assessment, personal reflections and CPD,covering both clinical, personal and professional development, and aCertificate of Achievement (appropriate to that year/level of training) will beissued.
Terms & Conditions and Tenure
Employment will be as a MYDoc Registrar on Trust Terms and Conditions ofService.
Appointment as a MYDoc Registrar is intended to be for a maximumthree-year period as part of an individual development programme for theDoctor. The initial tenure of post willbe no less than 1 year with a strong potential to extend to a maximum of threeyears. The offer will be dependent onservice requirements and confirmed at conditional offer stage.
Pay Scale
These roles are equivalent to a doctor on specialty training programmesand will be paid on the equivalent pay scale.The salary scale commences at£55,329 per annum.
