What is the purpose of this job?
We’re looking for a creative, proactive and data‑driven Social Media Executive to join our team to produce standout social‑first content and support the delivery of always‑on activity and campaigns for Rail Delivery Group. You’ll be responsible for creating engaging copy, visuals and short‑form video for the National Rail and Railcard social channels, ensuring every piece of content is tailored to platform best practice. Working closely with the Social Media Manager and the wider PR and Marketing team, you’ll help deliver industry‑wide campaigns and day‑to‑day activity. You’ll use insights to optimise performance, ensure our messages land across every channel, inspire people to travel by train, boost engagement and drive key marketing objectives.
What can I expect to do in this job?
* Create engaging social‑first content (copy, visuals and short‑form video) for National Rail and Railcard channels across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
* Deliver always‑on activity and support major campaigns, working closely with the Social Media Manager and wider PR and Marketing teams.
* Use insights and analytics to optimise content performance, strengthen engagement and ensure messages land effectively across every platform.
* Spot trends, cultural moments and creative opportunities to keep content fresh, relevant and on‑brand.
* Manage content calendars, scheduling, approvals and reporting to ensure smooth day‑to‑day channel delivery.
* Collaborate with agencies and internal teams to align social activity with wider marketing objectives and industry‑wide campaigns.
