Overview

The Deputy Director of Safeguarding is a key leadership role within the Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is responsible for the operational management and strategic development of safeguarding services for both children and adults, learning disabilities, dementia and the in house ISVA/IDVA service. The post-holder will be instrumental in ensuring the Trust meets its statutory safeguarding responsibilities and provides high-quality, person-centred care to individuals at risk. This is a key Trust wide strategic role leading the safeguarding agenda to ensure safeguarding activity across the Trust is robust and compliant with legislation, commissioning and partnership standards, and national and local guidelines and best practice.

The post holder will act as the lead for identified areas of safeguarding practice, supporting changing local and national safeguarding priorities and objectives. This includes the Domestic Abuse and Prevent agendas, ensuring the Trust complies with national, regional, and local policies and initiatives. Reporting to the Chief Nursing, Midwifery and AHP Officer with executive responsibility for safeguarding, the role provides strategic leadership for safeguarding children and adults across the Trust, ensuring statutory and regulatory obligations are met. It includes operational oversight and management of the corporate safeguarding team and preparing the Trust for new developments nationally and locally to strengthen safeguarding for children and adults at risk.


Responsibilities

* Provide dynamic and strategic leadership for safeguarding across the Trust, ensuring delivery of high standards in safeguarding adults, children, learning disability and dementia services in line with national, regional and local policy and guidance.
* Maintain compliance with commissioning and partnership standards, and current national and local guidelines and best practice.
* Lead identified safeguarding areas and support changes in local and national safeguarding priorities and objectives, including Domestic Abuse and Prevent agendas.
* Provide operational oversight and management of the corporate safeguarding team.
* Prepare the Trust for new developments nationally and locally, trailblazing ideas and opportunities to strengthen safeguarding for at-risk individuals.
