Job Title: SEMH/SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Sheffield Salary: £460 – £600 per week (Depending on experience) Contract Type: Full-time Start Date: Immediate Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs? A Sheffield school is seeking a dedicated, patient, and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join the team and help students build confidence, stability, and engagement with learning. About the School: The school provides a structured, nurturing environment designed to support students with SEN, including SEMH challenges. With a strong focus on positive relationships and consistency, students are encouraged to build resilience, confidence, and independence. About the Role: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students facing emotional or behavioural challenges, helping them engage with learning and develop essential skills. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the educational, social, and emotional growth of pupils with SEN while working alongside experienced teachers and support staff. Responsibilities: Implement individualised support strategies to help students with SEN engage in learning and manage emotions effectively. Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to students’ SEMH needs. Foster a supportive and trusting environment that encourages confidence, independence, and social development. Work closely with teachers and staff to ensure consistent, coordinated support for students with SEN. Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to inform teaching and interventions. Support students in developing positive behaviour, coping strategies, and social skills. Assist with practical aspects of school life and wellbeing support, in line with school policies. Requirements: Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or SEN is preferred. Strong understanding of strategies to support students with SEN. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Calm, patient, and adaptable approach. Compassionate, resilient, and committed to student wellbeing.
