Role Overview

Are you passionate about nutrition and helping families improve their children's health? Join our supportive Paediatric Dietetic Team at Stepping Hill Hospital, where you'll lead small, nurturing group coaching sessions for parents and carers of children with limited or restricted diets, provide guidance on the nutritional needs of children and help families navigate dietary challenges.


Key Responsibilities

* Lead small, interactive groups and deliver nutrition education tailored to each family's needs.
* Assist with the processing of feeding tubes and prescribed feeds to ensure children receive essential nutrition.
* Coordinate feeding equipment, including prescribed feeds and feeding tubes, and maintain accurate records.
* Collaborate with healthcare professionals such as GPs and community nurses to ensure accurate and timely delivery of services.
* Maintain and update electronic records, inputting measurements such as weight and height, and conduct nutritional analyses using specialised software.
* Provide follow‑up support to families, monitoring progress via phone or face‑to‑face consultations.
* Organise appointments, book rooms for group sessions and communicate with referring healthcare professionals.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of patient education programmes and quality improvement initiatives.
* Assist in training new colleagues and dietetic students, helping them integrate into the service.


Qualifications and Skills

* Excellent communication skills, guiding parents through nutritional challenges and working with the wider healthcare team.
* Compassionate, patient‑focused approach with the ability to build rapport with families.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail for managing nutritional supplies and patient records.
* Proactive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to work efficiently and sensitively with parents, addressing concerns and offering guidance on child nutritional needs.
* Adherence to confidentiality and strict health and safety protocols.


Additional Information

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trust's policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.

If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.90, which will be deducted from your first Trust salary. You must also join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.
