Purpose of Role
VINCI Facilities is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager (Water Responsible Person) to join our team at Princess Royal University Hospital. This is a key leadership role responsible for the safe management, compliance, and operational delivery of water systems across the site, ensuring full adherence to statutory regulations and healthcare engineering standards.
Job Description
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, manage a team of engineers, and act as the site subject matter expert for water hygiene and mechanical services.
Responsibilities
1. Act as the site Water Responsible Person in line with HSE ACoP L8 and HSG274 guidance
2. Ensure compliance with all water safety regulations and VINCI Facilities governance procedures
3. Manage and supervise maintenance staff and specialist subcontractors
4. Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works for mechanical and water systems
5. Monitor water quality results and ensure remedial actions are completed
6. Maintain accurate compliance records, logbooks, and reporting documentation
7. Support audits and ensure readiness for internal and external compliance inspections
8. Provide technical guidance on mechanical building services
9. Promote a strong health and safety culture across the engineering team
Essential Qualifications/Skills
10. Strong mechanical engineering background (City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent)
11. Proven experience working with water systems within healthcare or critical environments
12. Demonstrable knowledge of HSG274 and Legionella ACoP L8
13. Experience acting as a Responsible Person or Authorised Person (Water)
14. Experience managing or supervising engineering teams
15. Understanding of water hygiene monitoring and water quality management
16. Knowledge of compliance systems and CAFM systems desirable
17. Strong organisational and communication skills
