SEN Tutor (1:1 In-Person) - Empowering Young Learners Location: Ipswich, Suffolk | Pay: £25 - £30 per hour | Part-Time & Flexible The Opportunity We are seeking empathetic educators in Ipswich to provide vital support for children currently outside of the traditional classroom. These students often face significant challenges, including SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, SEN, or severe school-related anxiety. In this role, you are more than a teacher - you are a mentor helping a student regain their self-esteem and reconnect with their educational journey through consistent 1:1 support. Your Impact Customised Curriculum: Provide bespoke 1:1 tuition in core subjects (English, Maths, and Science) adapted to the student's current ability. Engagement-First Approach: Use a student's personal passions to bridge the gap between anxiety and learning. Community-Based Learning: Conduct sessions in comfortable environments, such as the student's home or local community spaces. Monitoring Progress: Document milestones and work alongside families and local authorities to ensure the best outcomes for every learner. Hours & Work-Life Balance Daytime Hours: Sessions are typically held between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Flexible Caseload: Whether you want to support just one student (approx. 6 hours/week) or manage multiple students (25 hours/week), the choice is yours. School Calendar: This is a term-time position, ideal for those seeking professional work that respects their personal time. Candidate Requirements Expertise: A solid background in teaching or tutoring, specifically with SEN/SEMH or "school-refusing" students.
