Candidate Profile
* Deep understanding of the needs of young people in care, especially those with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
* Extensive knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, the Guide to the Quality Standards, the Ofsted Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF), and other statutory legislation and good practice within the residential childcare sector.
* Qualifications: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Care/Children and Young People’s Services (or a willingness to work towards or currently studying), NVQ 4 Children and Young People, or an equivalent qualification required for Ofsted registration.
* Experience: Proven experience in children’s residential care as a Registered Manager with a record of achieving Ofsted ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ outcomes.
* Leadership: Excellent team management skills and the ability to build a safe, positive, and motivated working environment.
* Staff Management: Effective management of staff performance, rotas, supervision, and development to keep the home well‑staffed and compliant.
* Financial: Strong financial management, budgeting, and ensuring cost‑effective service delivery.
* Communication: Exceptional communication with professionals, external agencies, young people, and families.
* Trauma‑informed Approach: Skilled in developing and maintaining positive, sustainable relationships using trauma‑informed and attachment‑aware strategies.
* Behaviour Management: Understanding of challenging behaviour linked to SEMH and implementation of effective strategies for stability and emotional well‑being.
* Autonomy: Capability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team culture.
* Record Keeping: Skilled in record keeping, quality assurance, and confidentiality.
* Resilience and Motivation: Adaptable, resilient, and motivated to thrive in a demanding yet rewarding environment.
* Continuous Improvement: Key role in the ongoing development and improvement of the Children’s Home, embedding the Foundation’s values and high standards into daily practice.
* Quality Focus: Strong commitment to ensuring Quality of Life underpins all work with children, young people, families, and colleagues.
