This is a great job opportunity for a Community Housing Assistant to join Home Groups awesome housing team in our Reading Office. As our Community Housing Assistant (CHA) you’ll provide friendly, face to face support to our communities. If you like variety, meeting and supporting customers, and want to develop a career in housing, then this is the perfect job for you!
What you’ll do
1. Through visibility, engagement with customers and proactivity on our estates, you’ll build strong connections and gain a deep understanding of our communities
2. You’ll support our housing managers to look after their patches and through this, help us to improve our local neighbourhoods.
3. You’ll support with tasks such as managing our voids processes which includes liaising with local authorities, estate inspections, engaging and meeting with contractors on site.
4. You’ll carry out and record the routine safety and compliance checks in our buildings and communities.
5. You’ll also manage the admin updating records, ordering, and arranging payment for works to be done.

You have
6. A “can do” positive attitude, you’re proactive and well organised, able to work on your initiative.
7. A real passion for delivering excellent customer service and a genuine desire to help your customers.
8. Confidence working collaboratively with colleagues in other parts of the business and external partners
9. An understanding of housing management, housing law and universal credit would be ideal, but they’re not deal breakers!
10. The ability to use technology to navigate our systems and update customer records

The practical bits
11. This is a hybrid role however, you’ll spend most of your time in our Reading Office and in the community.We do all get together regularly 1 day a week.
12. Once you are fully up to speed there will be opportunities to work from home, along with some flexibility to adapt your working hours.
13. We work Monday to Friday and work occasional evenings to meet with customers. The great news is that you’ll be able to shape your own diary.
14. To get from A to B, you’ll need a vehicle insured for business purposes. The great news is that we’ll pay your mileage!
15. You’ll need an Advanced DBS check done and we pay for that.
