NHS Blood and Transplant are looking for a Media and PR officer who cares about making a difference with experience of working in a busy press office. Your influence, skills and creativity will contribute to the organisations success and the lives we save and improve on a daily basis.
This fixed term role set to end in December 2026 will be based in Tooting with a focus on supporting blood donation across our main London donor centres while helping reach and recruit more new donors, especially those who are young and/or Black heritage to help improve treatment for patients with sickle cell. Main duties of the job
In this role you will be responsible for supporting the Communications team to deliver high quality, evaluated communications primarily focussed on recruiting new donors and showcasing the work of NHSBT. Your responsibillites will include:-
* To deliver proactive media handling - national and local announcements, ethnic minority focussed media and consumer media coverage.
* Reactive media handling call handling / rebuttal and media monitoring.
* To use free media and no cost/low cost PR to recruit new donors.
* To work with colleagues across the organisation to source stories and information and with colleagues across the communications mix to deliver joined up and effective communications plans.
* To build relationships with case studies, influencers and media who can encourage the public to become blood and organ donors.
You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice
