Horizon Teachers are seeking committed and enthusiastic Supply Teachers to work with a variety of secondary schools across Hackney, East London. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your teaching experience, motivate young people, and help ensure lessons run smoothly whenever permanent staff are absent.
Day-to-day supply work pays between £135 and £160 per day, depending on experience.
About the Role:
As a Supply Teacher, you’ll play an essential role in maintaining continuity of learning when classroom teachers are unavailable. You’ll deliver pre-planned lessons, support students’ progress, and create a positive and secure atmosphere where pupils can stay focused and engaged.
QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification is required.
Main Responsibilities:
Teach from provided lesson plans and adapt activities when needed to meet the needs of different learners
Work collaboratively with school staff, including teachers, support workers, and leadership teams, to uphold a productive learning environment
Promote positive behaviour and encourage active participation from students
Oversee classes throughout the school day, which may include break or lunchtime supervision
Assist with assessments, including supporting exam or test invigilation
Collect and organise completed student work for the returning teacher
Communicate clearly with staff and, where appropriate, with parents or carers regarding student progress or any concerns
