Job Purpose
The role of a Payroll Trainee supports the wider Payroll Bureau by delivering comprehensive payrolls to Fourth customers. Working as part of a team, weekly and monthly payrolls will be processed accurately and on time. The role involves being the first point of contact for payroll queries. This position offers a great career development opportunity for someone aspiring to become a Payroll Specialist or to move internally within our departments.
The role...
1. Administer all payrolls within a set portfolio of customers, ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time to meet Bureau targets, with support from Payroll Trainers and the wider Bureau.
2. Build and maintain strong customer relationships and provide excellent customer service according to the Bureau service standards and Service Level Agreements.
3. Ensure all payroll data is received from customers on time and all outputs are delivered in line with metrics and targets.
4. Complete all aspects of payroll reconciliation, including ensuring all payrolls balance at all times.
5. Respond to customer queries via telephone or email and take appropriate action.
6. Highlight and escalate any issues affecting the smooth running of customer payrolls.
7. Keep the customer payroll procedures manual up to date with current processes.
8. Communicate annual timetable updates regarding Easter, Christmas, and start-of-year pay dates.
9. Distribute quarterly surveys to customers.
The ideal candidate...
1. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
2. At least 2 years of experience in an office environment.
3. Educational qualification to GCSE level, including Math and English.
