Learning Support Assistant Role:
* You'll work closely with individual students or small groups, providing help tailored to their specific needs. This could involve helping them with classwork, ensuring they understand tasks, and offering encouragement and guidance.
* For students with physical disabilities or medical needs, you may assist with personal care tasks such as feeding, toileting, and mobility support. It's important to maintain their dignity and independence while providing necessary assistance.
* Some students may require extra support in managing their behavior. You might implement strategies outlined in behavior plans, provide reinforcement for positive behavior, and offer redirection or de-escalation techniques when necessary.
* Maintaining open communication with teachers, parents, and other professionals involved in the students' support network is crucial. You may attend meetings to discuss progress, share insights, and collaborate on strategies to support the students effectively.
* As an advocate for inclusive education, you'll strive to create a supportive and accepting school environment where all students feel valued and included. This might involve organizing activities to raise awareness of diversity and celebrating students' achievements.
The successful candidate will:
* Have previous experience working as a learning assistant within an educational setting.
* Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
* Demonstrate empathy, patience, and resilience when working with students facing academic or behavioral challenges.
* Hold relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or a related field.
* Are passionate about supporting the learning and development of student and making a positive difference in their lives.
