The Role:
As an Assistant Category Manager, you will have the drive and ambition to work within a dynamic, commercial function.
The role of the Assistant Category Manager for Solar PV is to develop and deliver a market-leading product range to enable us to compete and maximize our share of the Solar PV market. This includes delivering commercial targets in terms of margin, revenue, terms improvements, and customer acquisition through strong supplier relationships, innovative propositions, and execution via branches and sales teams.

Key Responsibilities
* Define and deliver a market-leading category strategy for Solar PV, including proposition, pricing, promotional plans, and range management.
* Review and report weekly on trading performance, identifying opportunities or issues, and taking appropriate actions.
* Maintain regular contact with suppliers and internal stakeholders to support category and wider commercial team goals.
* Ensure optimal routes to market for each channel, working with supply chain teams to meet stock health objectives.
* Build a strong presence in retail outlets and Solar Hubs, collaborating with operational teams on stock levels.
* Develop close relationships with the Solar Sales Team to understand opportunities and customer needs, supporting growth initiatives.
* Work with the Pricing team to manage selling prices aligned with strategy, competition, and business goals.
* Collaborate with Marketing to create promotional plans that enhance sales and maintain margins.
* Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers and ensure accurate, timely input into Dealtrack, maintaining transparent reports.
* Project manage key initiatives requiring a Commercial lead for the Proposition.
This is a hybrid role with flexibility to work from home 2 days a week, based near our offices in Crick, Northamptonshire.

Skills and competencies
* Experience in Category, Buying, or Procurement roles
* Strong communication and negotiation skills
* Ability to work independently with proactive support from your team
* Experience with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets)
* Motivated and proactive team supporter
* Experience within Solar or Electric Ranges is preferable
Likely previous roles include Buying, Procurement, Category, Commercial, Negotiation, in sectors like Building, Construction, Retail, FMCG, Manufacturing, Mechanical.
