Compensation: £25,372 - £49,934 / year
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver inspiring lessons in animal science across multiple levels (Entry 3 to Level 6)
* Develop curriculum resources and contribute to faculty innovation
* Act as Learning Area Programme Lead (LAP leader) for one cohort and support management of this subject area
* Support learner progress through pastoral care and academic coaching
* Liaise with employers, industry experts, and higher education institutions
* Promote learner placement opportunities and experiential learning
* Maintain high standards of classroom management, assessment, and quality assurance
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Criteria:
* Relevant degree or equivalent Higher Education/Advanced qualification
* Teaching qualification (if you do not already hold one, you will need to obtain a PGCE within two years of employment)
* GCSE English and Mathematics at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
* Documented evidence of appropriate Professional Development
* Relevant practical/industrial experience in animal sciences
* Good literacy and numeracy skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels
* Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
* Ability to work harmoniously with learners and colleagues
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
* Excellent punctuality and flexibility
* Willingness to drive a college minibus
Desirable Criteria:
* Relevant teaching experience
* Business experience in the land‑based industries
* Understanding of post‑16 education issues
* Proven track record of high learner attainment
* Awareness of key performance indicators
* Evidence of innovative teaching and learning activities
* Evidence of effective tracking and monitoring of learner performance
* Experience of actively participating in the pastoral care of young people
* Sound understanding of digital literacy
* Willingness to develop extra‑curricular activities
Welsh Language Requirements
* Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) – Level 3/4 Essential
* Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) – Level 3/4 Essential
