Job Title: Graduate Digital Intelligence Human Factors Integration Engineer

Location: Yeovil (Somerset) We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – however for this role you will be expected to attend your site 3-5 days per week.

Salary: £34,000 Per Annum + £2,000 Welcome Bonus

Role Description

You’ll work together with submariners, operators, and engineers to understand the challenges they face when designing and building submarines. You will be assessing workload and situation awareness to optimise operator performance, alongside planning and conducting user trials to assess developing design and optimise user interaction. You will also be involved with developing and understanding Human Computer Interaction, assessing Human Machine Interfaces. Using measurements of the human body when assessing spatial layout design, including working with 3D CAD tools, immersive VR, and constructing full scale mock-ups and providing human reliability analysis and human factors support to site safety cases.

Core Duties

• Apply an understanding of cognitive and physical characteristics to inform design activities.
• Conduct and analyse trials and assessments to provide data-based conclusions to influence design decisions.
• Work with suppliers, cross functional teams, and other stakeholders to develop solutions, review technical information, and confirm designs meet required outcomes.
• Analyse design options for machine/computer interfaces to ensure they are intuitive, task-focused, and safe in accordance with user needs.
• Breakdown tasks to understand user activity and ensure workload and situation awareness is not exceeded such that performance or safety is compromised.
• Review environmental factors to understand how task context can impact human performance.

Qualification requirements

You must have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a minimum 2:2 bachelor’s degree or a pass at master’s level in the following subject: Human Factors

Start date: 12th April 2027 Length of contract: Permanent contract
