Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, creative, reflective and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our interdisciplinary team and lead the OT department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience and interest in Acquired Brain Injury, to lead our team of OTs, offering specialist rehabilitation. Shaftesbury Icanho is a highly specialist, community-based brain injury rehabilitation service with its base in Stowmarket, Suffolk. The service is run by the national charity Shaftesbury, and commissioned by local ICBs. The interdisciplinary team (IDT) works with adults who have had an acquired brain injury, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, infection, hypoxia and tumour. The IDT includes OTs, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Clinical Psychologists, Social Worker and Rehabilitation Assistants. OT is an integral and valued part of the team; work occurs in a purpose-built centre, in clients’ homes and in the community as needed.
Responsibilities
* Ensure the systematic provision of a high quality clinical Occupational Therapy (OT) service within Icanho; govern OT practice within the service.
* Ensure systems are in place for clinical and professional supervision and support of all OTs within Icanho; maintain student placements.
* Provide specialist OT assessment and interventions for rehabilitation of clients following Acquired Brain Injury at Shaftesbury Icanho, Stowmarket, and at the Bungay satellite service as required.
* Establish good working links with other services and act as a highly specialist resource to the wider professional community.
* Contribute to the overall direction and development of the interdisciplinary team/service.
* Lead and develop the OT service across main base and satellite site, ensuring efficient operation and governance.

Qualifications
* Professional OT qualification
* HCPC registration
* Evidence of CPD
Experience
* At least 5 years’ experience (preferably in neurology or with transferable skills/knowledge)
* Experience of specialist OT assessment and treatment across care settings
* Experience of vocational rehabilitation
* Supervision of OTs/students
* Experience of interdisciplinary team working
* Experience of leadership within a clinical setting
* Experience of presenting/teaching to varied audiences
Knowledge and skills
* Knowledge of specialised OT assessment and therapies; neurology and brain injury
* Knowledge of legislation related to Acquired Brain Injury (including MCA and DOLs)
* Clinical governance, information governance and evidence-based practice
* Communication skills (written and spoken), ability to convey complex information
* Ability to provide consultation to professionals and non-professionals
* CPD and reflective practice; organisational and prioritisation skills
Personal qualities
* Self-motivated, team player, organised, flexible, reflective
* Willingness to learn, accountable, current driving licence and car
* Innovative/creative practitioner with a drive to develop private and medico-legal workstreams (desirable)
