Job Description:
Track N&V Specialist
(Noise and Vibration (N&V) design specialist for rail system)
Reports to: Track Design Lead/Director
Location: London Office and Buckinghamshire
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and coordinate the acoustic design development and control of noise and vibration throughout the design and construction technical life cycles, working with the Employer, Designers’ Noise and Vibration team, suppliers, and other contractors.
* Responsible for the N&V design aspects for a high-speed track contract, ensuring compliance with the client’s environmental minimum requirements.
* Coordinate with other design disciplines and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery and compliance with Client’s requirements.
* Lead the N&V design aspects relevant to the works.
* Attend weekly meetings with the construction and design teams in Birmingham and/or London.
* Chair N&V meetings during design and construction, providing technical support for mitigation.
* Support the Client in identifying change, risk, and opportunities, striving for efficiencies and cost savings.
* Aid in the study of optimization and liaison with commercial and planning teams.
* Coordinate with construction teams on N&V related issues, advising on track elements that meet contract requirements.
* Provide technical input for commercial communications (SNCs, NCRs, CEs, etc.).
* Close out N&V issues in a timely manner.
* Review monitoring reports and support technical assurance during design and construction.
Key skills and experience
* Corporate Membership of the Institute of Acoustics (or equivalent competent body).
* Degree-level qualification in an acoustics-related discipline, or relevant experience.
* Experience in managing noise and vibration on major construction projects.
* Understanding of noise and vibration Environmental Impact Assessment process and environmental legislation.
* Experience in managing and liaising with third parties and contractors.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Focus on efficiency, environment, and sustainability.
