We are currently looking to appoint a dedicated and inspiring Teacher of PE on a fixed-term contract from November 2025 to October 2026. At Harris Academy Purley, you will join a dedicated team of teachers and staff supporting our vibrant students. Responsibilities:
1. Implement and deliver a broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum for students, supporting a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
2. Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher/form tutor.
3. Facilitate and encourage a learning experience that provides students with the opportunity to achieve their potential.
4. Contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
5. Share and support the academy's responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
Main areas of responsibility include:
* Operational and strategic planning (lesson planning, developing resources and syllabuses, contributing to departmental plans)
* Curriculum planning
* Staff development (including CPD and Performance Management)
* Quality assurance (monitoring and evaluating the subject area)
* Management of information (records and tracking student progress)
* Communication with students, parents, and stakeholders
* Pastoral responsibilities (including being a form tutor)
* Teaching, ensuring high-quality learning experiences
Qualifications and Experience:
* Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
* Successful secondary teaching experience, ideally including multi-ethnic urban schools and 11-18 settings.
* Understanding of effective teaching and learning, high expectations, and equality.
* Knowledge of KS3 and KS4 National Curriculum, lesson planning, resource development, and assessment.
* Ability to work collaboratively and develop positive relationships.
* Good ICT skills, including innovative use of interactive whiteboards.
* Ability to create a motivating, safe learning environment.
* Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
* Effective time management and motivation skills.
