The role
As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll take a leading role within a major, multi-year infrastructure improvement programme across one of the United Kingdom’s most strategically important defence estates.
Day-to-day you’ll be required to:
1. Leading the end‑to‑end delivery of major infrastructure projects, ensuring safety, quality, schedule and cost targets are met
2. Managing and developing a team of project managers and assistant project managers across multiple workstreams
3. Coordinating designers, consultants, contractors and stakeholders through all RIBA stages
4. Overseeing procurement, tendering and contract management using industry‑standard forms
5. Driving strong governance, risk management and financial control across your portfolio
This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday, based at HMNB Clyde Faslane and provides hybrid working arrangements following an initial on-site period.
Essential experience of the Senior Project Manager
6. Proven experience leading teams within a construction, engineering or complex infrastructure environment
7. Strong track record delivering large, high‑value and technically complex infrastructure projects
8. Working knowledge of NEC4, JCT or similar standard forms of contract
9. Experience across feasibility, design development and front‑end engineering design
10. Practical use of modern project management tools and methodologies
Qualifications for the Senior Project Manager
11. Degree or HNC with significant experience in a relevant construction or engineering discipline
12. Full membership or working towards membership of a recognised professional body such as RICS, CIOB, APM or CEng
13. APM Project Management Qualification or equivalent is desirable
14. Working towards Chartered status is advantageous
