Secondary School Teaching Assistant Location : Penarth, CF64 Start Date : ASAP Hours : Part-time (Hours between, Monday – Friday, 8am – 3:30pm) Pay : £90-£95 per day, with potential for a higher rate from April We are seeking an enthusiastic Secondary School Teaching Assistant to support pupils in the classroom at a welcoming school in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan. The successful candidate will be confident in providing classroom support, encouraging pupils to enjoy their time at school while supporting their learning, engagement, and overall development. We offer part-time hours, allowing you flexibility around your other commitments. What you’ll be doing: - Supporting pupils with their learning in a patient, knowledgeable, and encouraging way. - Carefully following safeguarding procedures. - Building positive relationships that help pupils feel confident and comfortable taking part in lessons. - Communicating clearly and positively with teachers about lesson plans and pupils’ progress. - Sharing updates on pupils’ progress or any concerns, whilst working closely with school staff to make sure every child’s needs are met. What we would require: - Previous experience working with children or young people (desired but not required!) - Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one). - Registration with the Education Workforce Council (or willingness to obtain) – We can help you with this! - Confidence to engage and maintain pupil’s concentration. - A proactive, flexible, and reliable approach with strong communication skills - Ability to engage positively and effectively with students and teachers. - Understanding of safeguarding policies and a commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children. - Patience, calmness, and the ability to adapt to different situations.
