Overview
Job summary: Consultant in Geriatric Medicine within the Department of Older Persons' Services (DOPS). The department is expanding with senior medical staff, including Consultants and SAS doctors. You will join a well-established, friendly team, support training and supervision of junior colleagues, and contribute to developing existing and new services. The Trust places emphasis on staff health and wellbeing and offers a range of support through its wellbeing programme.
Responsibilities
* Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions and provide evidence-based care in a multidisciplinary setting.
* Take ongoing responsibility for the care of a cohort of patients, including administrative duties, with ward/board rounds and junior doctor support as described in the local structure.
* Develop sub-specialty interests aligned with division needs and participate in audits.
* Carry out teaching, examination, accreditation duties, and contribute to undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education activities.
* Provide cover for colleagues’ leave according to Trust policy; participate in clinical audit and continuing medical education.
* Undertake ward rounds as appropriate and participate in an out-of-hours consultant rota as detailed in the job plan.

Qualifications and experience
* Fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC)
* CCT or equivalent in Geriatric and General (Internal) Medicine and eligibility for GMC Specialist Register at the time of appointment; or within six months of CCT at interview
* Trained in all aspects of General and Geriatric Medicine; MRCP (UK) or equivalent
* Clinical training/experience equivalent to UK CCT; expertise in the full range of Elderly Care conditions
* Ability to lead a multi-professional team and take full and independent responsibility for clinical care; sub-specialty interests will be supported
