Role overview

Deesha is seeking a detail‑driven, analytically minded Education Data Specialist to help schools and trusts unlock the full value of our data analytics platform. You will play a pivotal role in transforming raw education data into meaningful insights—supporting leaders, teachers, and operational teams to make evidence‑based decisions. This role blends technical data expertise with a strong understanding of school systems, making it ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of education, analytics, and product innovation.

Key responsibilities

Data Analysis, Integration and Quality:

· Analyse and Validate data from a variety of educational sources.

· Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis to identify trends, disparities, and opportunities for improvement.

· Create, manage and monitor data flows from various customer environments.

· Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all customer environments.

· Troubleshoot data issues and work with technical teams to resolve integration challenges.

· Perform detailed data analysis using SQL and other tools and collaborate with product and technical team to inform product decisions and validate feature performance.

· Support A/B testing and experimentation to validate product changes and educational improvements.

Insight Generation & Analysis

* Analyse school and trust‑level datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
* Build dashboards, reports, and visualisations that translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
* Support customers in interpreting analytics related to attendance, attainment, behaviour, safeguarding, and operational performance.

Customer Support & Enablement

* Work closely with Customer Success Managers to help schools understand and use their data effectively.
* Deliver training sessions, workshops, and guidance on data literacy and best‑practice analytics.
* Provide expert advice on how to structure, clean, and interpret education data.

Product & Data Model Development

* Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to refine data models, metrics, and platform features.
* Contribute to the design of new analytics capabilities, ensuring they reflect real school needs.
* Test new data features and support quality assurance processes.

Technical Proficiency:

· Past experience must be in the data delivery projects

· In depth experience in writing complex SQL queries using joins, aggregates, set operators, window functions etc.

· Strong hands-on experience in analysing data on large datasets(Terabytes)

· Extensive experience in Dimensional data modelling including complex entity relationships and historical data entities

· Experience in building and delivering data marts, data warehouses, data lake and delta lake solutions.

· Development of data ingestion pipelines and robust ETL frameworks. Implementation of data cleansing and data quality features in ETL pipelines.

· Must have strong professional experience of data engineering on Azure

· Experience in documenting low level ETL designs

· Implementation of data streaming solutions

· Object Oriented Programming

· You must have worked closely with data scientists on the development of machine learning models. You need to understand what type of data is required for the data scientists.

Qualifications:

· 2+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably in an educational or public sector setting.

· Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, R, Python, or Power BI/Tableau.

· Strong understanding of educational metrics, accountability systems, and data reporting.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

· Strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to derive meaningful insights.

· Experience working in an Agile environment is a plus.

· Basic data cloud transformation knowledge

· Experience with student information systems (e.g., PowerSchool, iSAMS, Arbor, Bromcom).

· Knowledge of K–12 or higher education operational environments.

Nice to have:

· Background in business analysis or product management.

· Understanding of data pipelines and ETL processes.

· Experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies.

· Experience working in EdTech or with educational data (e.g., assessments, learning progress, curriculum).

· Exposure to A/B testing frameworks or experimentation platforms.

· Basic understanding of Python, R, or another scripting language is a plus.

· Experience in international education systems (e.g., IB, British, American curricula).

· Knowledge of data requirements for international accreditation bodies (e.g., CIS, IB).

This is a full-time role, working flexibly from home and at client sites. We can offer a competitive salary in line with experience, 28 days holiday and performance-based bonus.
