As part of the Network Team this role assists in delivering coretechnology services to the Trust. This role has delegated responsibilityfor key tasks enabling operational continuity and future developmentof all Trust systems. Awareness is required of local and nationalinitiatives, standards and best practice as well as industry standards.

To assist the Trust Communications and Voice Manager in proactivelymanaging the installation, maintenance, development and support ofthe Trust's network infrastructure including data, voice and videoconferencing technologies.

To do so in accordance with Trust, industry and national standards.

To ensure that all systems operate with a focus on customer-baseddelivery.

To ensure all Trust network systems are operating within a secureenvironment. To ensure proper awareness of own responsibilities inaccordance with Trust policies and the Data Protection Act.


Main duties of the job

Proactive Development: Work closely with the Network Manager to identify key areas for network development, ensuring the infrastructure meets current and future demands. This includes assessing new technologies, recommending upgrades, and implementing solutions to improve network performance and security.oNetwork Security: Implement the highest standards of security across all network systems. This includes configuring and managing firewalls, enforcing access controls, and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. The post holder will play a key role in identifying and mitigating network vulnerabilities.oDisaster Recovery: Assist the Network Manager in planning and executing disaster recovery procedures in the event of a major network incident. Develop and test recovery plans to ensure business continuity and minimize downtime.oReal-Time Network Monitoring: Ensure helpdesk and technical teams are informed of real-time network performance, issues, and changes. Implement monitoring tools to proactively identify and address network faults before they impact services.oNetwork Administration: Manage network administration functions, including configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of routers, switches, and other critical infrastructure. Ensure system uptime and performance targets are met.

Planning and OrganisationStrategic Planning: Contribute to the strategic planning of network infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with the Trusts overall IT and digital strategies. This includes assessing current capacity, future demands, and making recommendations to the Network Manager for upgrades or new implementations.

Network Security and ComplianceAccess Control: Assist in maintaining all aspects of network security, including managing firewall access, ensuring that external connections are secured, and that internal networks are protected from threats. Implement and enforce policies that comply with national data protection standards.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Degree in relevant discipline
* CISCO Certified Professional
* ITIL V3/4 Foundation
* Working Knowledge of BS7799


Experience

* Significant Experience in managing large scale, complex networks
* Experience in configuring & managing advanced networks
* Knowledge of routing, switching and wireless
* Knowledge of IP telephony and voicemail systems
* Knowledge of installing and troubleshooting analogue and digital telephone systems

£47,810 to £54,710 per year, per annum, pro rata
