Objective
To oversee the full life span of training & development initiatives for J Coffey, managing and recruiting graduates & apprentices, developing innovative programmes and implementing, monitoring and executing training for all staff, to foster continuous growth and skill enhancement.
Responsible for
Responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing management of training programmes specifically tailored for our apprentices, graduates & existing staff. You will work closely with various departments heads & divisional leads to ensure these individuals receive the skills, knowledge, and support necessary to excel in their roles and contribute to the success of our projects.
Organisational goals:
* to develop and implement an industry leading graduate/apprentice/trainee recruitment training scheme;
* conduct training needs assessments to identify skills gaps and training priorities across departments & produce action plans for execution.
Key result areas
* Development, implementation & successful roll-out of a company-wide training strategy aligned with organisational goals and compliance requirements.
* Ensuring participants acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to progress within the company.
* Smooth and organised delivery of training activities with accurate record-keeping.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with apprentices, graduates, mentors, managers, and external providers.
* Regularly evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness and relevance of training initiatives.
* Identifying relevant careers fairs, organising our attendance and assisting with the recruitment of graduates & apprentices.
Key tasks
* Design and deliver multifaceted training programmes covering onboarding, health and safety, technical skills, leadership, and regulatory compliance.
* Create a wide range of engaging training materials, including structured on-the-job training plans and compelling presentations to support learning objectives.
* Coordinate with external suppliers, trainers, and industry experts for specialised training needs
* Ensure all training programmes meet industry and regulatory standards (e.g., HSE, local construction
* safety regulations)
* Maintain training records and certifications for audits and inspections.
* Collaborate with departments to identify specific training requirements for apprentice, graduate roles & existing staff
* Schedule and organise training sessions, workshops, and site visits
* Serve as a primary point of contact, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to participants throughout their programmes.
* Support and guide internal mentors involved in the apprentice and graduate programmes.
* Track and assess the progress of apprentices and graduates facilitating regular reviews and feedback sessions.
* Manage relationships with colleges, training organisations, and awarding bodies.
* Maintain accurate training records, track attendance, and generate reports on programme effectiveness.
* Gather feedback on training delivery and content, analyse results, and recommend improvements to the programmes.
* Act as a training advisor to leaders, recommending strategic learning initiatives
* Support & Assist the HR Lead as and when required.

Qualifications
* CIPD qualified or equivalent is desirable
* A good understanding of apprenticeship frameworks and graduate development schemes in the UK.
Knowledge and Experience
* Proven experience in a training and development role, ideally with experience in implementing programmes for apprentices, graduates & existing staff.
* Knowledge of the construction industry and its specific skills requirements is highly desirable.
* Understanding of quality assurance processes in training.
* Experience in working with external training providers and educational institutions.
* Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations within the construction sector.
* Experience in a stand-alone role is preferable but not a requirement as role will cover everything from the administrative tracking to the delivery.
Working Days & Hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:30pm.
