Overview
We’re looking for a Shift Leader to join One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. You will work in a fast paced retail environment where no day is the same and take ownership of store activities by running duty shifts, coordinating a team to deliver a clean and full store that exceeds customer expectations. You will continuously look for ways to improve service through on the job coaching and feedback, understand store performance, and deliver practical actions for improvement. With your guidance, the store will remain a safe place to work and shop.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate the team to deliver the easiest shopping trip in the community
* Open/close the store and complete duty cover, ensuring decisions are right for customers, colleagues, and safety
* Be the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for day-to-day operational queries
* Support the Store Manager to co-ordinate seasonal, community and charity events, creating a great inclusive atmosphere
* Keep the store clean, tidy, and well presented
* Prioritise replenishment of products that matter to customers
* Ensure point of sale and shelf edge labels reflect what good looks like
* Take immediate action for any overcharges and prevent reoccurrences
* Proactively manage queues to deliver a great shopping trip
* Coordinate colleagues to deliver daily priorities and manage breaks around trade patterns
* Be knowledgeable about the store and coordinate others to deliver practical actions to improve
* Follow company health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same
* Deliver clear communication to the team and keep everyone well informed
* Look for ways to simplify operations and share ideas with the Store Manager
* Always put the customer first and adapt service to meet individual needs
* Resolve customer queries promptly, leaving customers satisfied
* Address service obstacles and remove barriers to delivering great service
* Resolve colleagues’ queries in the Store Manager’s absence or escalate appropriately
* Ensure adequate staffing, arranging cover for short-term absences or sickness
* Act as a recognised Keyholder and attend alarm call outs as needed to ensure store safety
* Monitor and action internal communications to keep colleagues informed
* Coordinate colleagues to meet customer and store needs, feeding back issues to the Store Manager
* Balance time across service and replenishment areas
* Support the Store Manager in managing absence, conduct return-to-work interviews for CSA colleagues, and report absence triggers per policy
* Build relationships with Area Manager & People Partner and seek timely coaching and support when needed
* If the store has a Post Office Local, undertake day-to-day Post Office operations and pass required background checks; if checks fail, the offer may be withdrawn
