Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Contracts Manager to join the Contracts Team at The University of Manchester. The Contracts Manager will be based in the Directorate for Research and Business Engagement, providing a professional legal and contractual service to colleagues across the University, largely focusing on supporting the University’s Professional Services Teams, including the cultural assets comprising of Jodrell Bank, John Rylands Library, Manchester Museum and the Whitworth Art Gallery; the Directorate for the Student Experience (including the International Office); IT Services; Development and Alumni, Finance and Procurement Teams; alongside the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute and National Biomarker Centre.
The University has a number of partnerships and collaborations covering a variety of different arrangements, which require legal and contractual advice to support the activities. The contractual arrangements will require the successful candidate to build relationships with the key stakeholders across the University, in particular the Professional Services Teams.
Responsibilities
* Provide a professional legal and contractual service to colleagues across the University, largely focusing on supporting the University’s Professional Services Teams and associated assets and offices.
* Support partnerships and collaborations across the University by providing legal and contractual advice.
* Build relationships with key stakeholders across the University, in particular Professional Services Teams.
* Draft, prepare and negotiate contracts; apply in-depth knowledge of legal issues in these areas; communicate effectively and work flexibly and pragmatically to prioritise a demanding portfolio of work to meet deadlines.
Qualifications
* Legal qualification and relevant experience of contract drafting, preparation and negotiation.
* In-depth working knowledge and understanding of legal issues in the areas described.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; flexible and pragmatic; ability to prioritise a demanding portfolio of work to meet deadlines.
