We have an urgent requirement for an experienced and EHRB Registered Environmental Health Officer / Public Protection Food Safety Practitioner to work for our client, a notable local authority based in West London.
The role is full time (36 hours per week), temporary role initially for 6 months with potential to be extended, paying; £35 ph PAYE / £45 per hour Umbrella - Rates are negotiable Depending on Experience.
You will be required to;
protect the health, safety and welfare of residents, businesses, visitors and employees in the area through the enforcement of food hygiene, food standards, infectious diseases and health and safety standards in commercial premises and work activities.
protect the health of consumers through the enforcement of food hygiene and food standards in high, low risk and approved premises, including allergens in commercial premises.
Provide assistance, advice and using available statutory powers to carry out enforcement to keep people safe and to maintain professional and legal standards.
Achieve your full potential in delivering high quality services, supporting our P1 critical services, ensuring that the Council discharges their statutory obligations with respect to:
a) Protecting the health of consumers through the enforcement of food standards (FS) in accordance with the NEW Food Standards Delivery Model (FSDM) including the labelling and presentation of food in commercial premises and food hygiene (FH) in high risk (A and B Category), Approved premises and low risk premises.
b) Notifiable infectious diseases, and other emerging diseases which have a detrimental impact on the health of residents.
c) Protecting the health, safety and welfare of employees and others through the enforcement of health and safety standards in commercial premises and work activities.Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Good/expert working knowledge of the ‘team specific’ relevant laws, powers, codes of practice, guidance, policies to deliver on the team’s statutory duties and support the council’s priorities.
Good/expert working knowledge of ‘general legal process’ - relevant powers, laws, codes of practice, guidance, policies to achieve successful outcomes in any team enforcement actions.
Knowledge of current/topical regional/national issues and implications for the profession.
Team working – Ability to and/or experience of doing this.
Delivering high standards of customer care, professional officer conduct and delivering services.
Local Authority Governance and processes – Knowledge and/or experience of this.Qualifications
Essential: BSc Environmental Health or similar, EHRB Registered – Essential at some grades
Desirable: Other regulatory or vocational qualifications e.g. Lead Assessor
You will also be expected to maintain your own continuous personal and professional development and keep their technical knowledge up to date to fulfill this statutory role.
