Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Refuse Collector to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within our site by collecting waste and recyclables efficiently and safely. This position requires a strong commitment to service, safety, and teamwork. The successful person will work from 5.00 pm to 8.30pm within a school grounds, emptying the external bins, moving refuse collected by cleaners in different parts of the school and disposing of. Also the successful candidate will be required to keep a general upkeep of the outside areas of school, this by litter picking the designated areas, tennis courts, football fields etc. An electric cart to make the job easy, so no real heavy lifting will be required. As it is private land, no driving license is necessary, however a clean 'enhanced' DBS is a must. If the candidate does not have this, we will supply this. Please note a the site is a school, the hours are in term time, however overtime is available in holiday periods.
Duties
* Operate an electric refuse collection vehicle, ensuring compliance and safety protocols are adhered to.
* Communicate effectively with team members and school staff and report any issues encountered during collection.
* Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on collection vehicles to ensure they are in good working order.
* Work collaboratively with school cleaning staff to ensure efficient operations.
Qualifications
* Previous experience as a delivery driver or in a similar driving role is advantageous.
* Experience working in a similar environment is beneficial.
* Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues and the public.
* Ability to work as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
