If you are experienced and motivated to help pupils with autism, communication difficulties, sensory needs, and emotional challenges, this could be the perfect role for you.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work with pupils who have a wide range of complex needs, including:
* Severe learning disabilities
* Emotional and behavioural challenges
* Physical disabilities
* Medical conditions requiring specialist care
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Supporting individual learning by working 1-1 with students, providing tailored support to help them understand lessons and participate in activities.
* Assisting with communication needs, helping students with speech and language difficulties communicate effectively using various strategies.
* Supporting behavioural and emotional needs, managing behaviour positively and constructively.
* Assisting with sensory needs, supporting sensory breaks or creating sensory-friendly environments.
* Supporting personal care for students requiring assistance.
* Collaborating with teachers and support staff to monitor and share students' progress, ensuring their needs are met across all areas of school life.
What We're Looking For:
* Experience working with children with complex needs is essential. You should have worked in similar settings supporting children with autism, sensory needs, or learning difficulties.
* A patient, understanding, and flexible approach is key to adapt to each child's unique needs.
* A positive and proactive attitude, with the ability to think quickly and adapt to challenges.
* Strong communication skills, especially with students who may have limited verbal communication, using alternative methods as needed.
* A qualification in supporting teaching and learning (such as Level 2 or 3) or equivalent is required.
Why Work With Us:
* Meaningful work where you can make a real difference in children's lives.
* A supportive, close-knit team where everyone's contributions are valued.
* A safe and nurturing environment designed to meet the needs of children with complex requirements.
