We are seeking a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) Finance Systems Lead to act as the functional owner and subject matter expert for our ERP platform, supporting core finance processes in a regulated financial services environment. This role involves collaborating with finance and IT teams to ensure that financial data is accurate, secure, and efficiently processed. The Finance Systems Lead will also play a key role in implementing and maintaining accounting software and tools, working closely with senior stakeholders to influence system strategy. This is a hybrid functional and technical role, focused on: Designing and improving finance processes in D365 F&O. Translating business and regulatory requirements into system solutions. Optimizing reporting, controls, and automation. Partnering with IT and vendors on technical development and delivery. You will serve as the bridge between Finance, Operations, and Technology, ensuring our ERP system enables accurate reporting, strong controls, and scalable growth. This role is ideal for someone with strong finance domain knowledge and hands-on D365 experience, who enjoys systems improvement and business transformation rather than pure development. What you’ll be doing Key Responsibilities Financial Systems Management & Architecture Serve as the senior technical authority for Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O across finance-centric workloads. Define and enforce technical architecture, development standards, and best practices aligned with Microsoft and financial services regulatory requirements. Lead technical design decisions for enhancements, customizations, and integrations. Lead the administration and oversight of all financial systems, including ERP platforms, accounting software, and related tools. Maintain data integrity and accuracy across systems, ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards. Monitor system performance, proactively troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to minimize downtime. Partner with IT to manage system maintenance, upgrades, user acceptance testing of fixes, developments, new features and infrastructure requirements. Ensure all developments are upgrade-safe and compliant with D365 F&O strategy. Support complex financial data flows, reconciliations, and batch processing. Implement and maintain strong data integrity, auditability, and financial controls across integrated systems. Own non-production and production environments (Dev, Test, UAT, Prod). Monitor performance, help resolve complex incidents and conduct root-cause analysis. Oversee the development of accurate, timely financial reports aligned with IFRS, GAAP, and regulatory requirements. Design and implement custom dashboards and reporting suites for senior management and operational teams. Support preparation of financial statements, disclosures and supporting schedules. Security, Compliance & Risk Design and manage security roles, duties, and privileges in alignment with internal control frameworks. Collaborate with IT to implement robust security protocols safeguarding financial data. Support audits, regulatory reviews, and risk assessments related to ERP systems. Partner with Legal and Risk teams to ensure compliance with financial services security standards. Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration Translate complex finance and regulatory requirements into robust technical solutions. Act as technical lead for external vendors and system integrators, reviewing designs and code quality. Contribute to cross-functional initiatives and support organizational priorities. The ideal background for this role: ERP Implementation & Management: Proven track record in leading ERP projects (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred), including system configuration, data migration, testing, and go-live support. Financial Systems Administration: Hands-on experience managing accounting software, ERP platforms, and related financial tools. Process Improvement & Automation: Demonstrated ability to streamline workflows, implement automation, and optimize finance processes. Financial Reporting & Compliance: Experience developing custom reports and dashboards, ensuring compliance with IFRS, GAAP, and regulatory standards. Data Security & Audit Support: Skilled in implementing security measures and supporting internal/external audits. Training & Change Management: Ability to create training materials, deliver user training, and drive system adoption across teams. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working with Finance, IT, and business stakeholders to deliver strategic system initiatives. Hands-on experience with integrations, data migration, and batch processing. Strong understanding of financial controls, audit requirements, and compliance frameworks. Unique role requirements Microsoft Dynamics 365 competencies and certifications (Senior Developer, Solution Architect). Experience in financial services, asset management, or payments environments. Experience with ERP implementations, system automation, application integrations, data warehousing and Power Platform and reporting tools (Power BI). Senior technical ownership and decision-making authority to drive industry best practice and operational efficiency. Strong stakeholder communication across Finance, Client Service, Risk, Audit, and IT. Ability to balance operational and regulatory compliance with system agility Role Location/Hybrid Schedule This role can be based in our Southampton office and would consider a London option based on candidate availability. Although the nature of most roles within Gen II cannot be classed as totally flexible, there is scope in some cases for a form of Agile Working. The different ways in which Agile Working can be undertaken is dependent on the demands and needs of the business, the office space available and the individual’s preferences and circumstances.
