Role Overview:
As an English Intervention Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support and intervention to students who require additional assistance in English. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Assessment and Analysis: Conducting diagnostic assessments to identify students' strengths and weaknesses in English language and literacy, analysing assessment data to pinpoint specific areas for improvement, and developing individualised intervention plans to address learning gaps.
2. One-to-One Support: Delivering targeted interventions to students either on a one-to-one basis or in small group settings, using evidence-based teaching strategies and resources to develop key English skills, such as reading comprehension, writing fluency, and grammar.
3. Differentiation: Adapting intervention activities and materials to suit the diverse needs and learning styles of students, providing differentiated instruction to ensure that all students are able to access the curriculum and make progress in English.
4. Progress Monitoring: Regularly assessing and monitoring the progress of students receiving intervention, using formative assessment techniques to evaluate their understanding and mastery of English concepts, and adjusting intervention strategies as necessary to maximise impact.
5. Collaboration: Working collaboratively with English teachers, the SENCO, and other school staff to coordinate intervention efforts, share insights and observations, and contribute to the overall improvement of English attainment across the school.
Requirements:
* A degree in English or a related field, with a strong academic background and a deep understanding of English language and literature.
* Previous experience working as an English tutor, intervention specialist, or classroom teacher, preferably within a secondary school setting.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and motivate them to achieve their full potential in English.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to plan and deliver effective intervention sessions and maintain accurate records of student progress.
* Flexibility and adaptability to work collaboratively with colleagues and respond to the diverse needs of students, prioritising their academic progress and well-being.
