What's involved with this role: JOB TITLE: Penalty Charge Notice Officer - Parking Appeals Officer REF: Merton 5269905 Pay rate: £17.27 per hour PAYE Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 6 months Working Arrangement: Assume office based as no hybrid working provided In order to apply for this role you'll have previous customer service experience in supporting Penalty Charge Notices within a local authority or similar organisation. The role: On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Penalty Charge Notice Officer/ Administrator to support the processing and administration of Penalty Charge Notices. You’ll handle correspondence, appeals, and representations, providing fair and consistent outcomes while maintaining excellent customer service standards. Key Responsibilities may include: Process Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) in line with statutory requirements and council policies. Review and respond to challenges, representations, and appeals in a clear and professional manner. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using the council’s parking management systems. Liaise with enforcement agents, the Traffic Penalty Tribunal (TPT), and other stakeholders as needed. Provide courteous and informative advice to members of the public via phone, email, and written correspondence. Assist with financial reconciliation, reporting, and general administrative duties within the parking services team What the client is looking for: Previous experience in parking enforcement, local government administration, or a similar regulatory environment Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines. Customer service experience and able to handle sometimes challenging situations with professionalism and empathy. Technically confident, with good IT skills and experience using database or case management systems.
