An exciting opportunity has arisen in the speciality medicine directorate, within the medical division for a band 6 nurse to become one of C5 ward’s deputy managers’. You would be working alongside other band 6 nurses ‘, supporting the band 7 ward manager within an expanding established nursing team.. The Acute Medical Endocrine Unit is a 27 bedded unit where we care for a group of patients with complex needs. This is an exciting opportunity and the perfect time to join a very supportive established team.
This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route however sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds (£25000), and any role-specific criteria.
Main duties of the job
This post would suit a dynamic individual with good leadership skills to co-ordinate the unit’s nursing team daily activities. Experience in acute care is essential, and experience or qualifications in Diabetes care would be advantageous. The opportunity would suit a qualified mentor / assessor supervisor with excellent inter-personal communication skills, who possesses at least 2 years’ experience at band 5 level, preferably within an acute medical setting. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of recent professional development and a leadership qualification is desirable. You will be supported within your role by a ward manager, a dedicated practice development nurse, and clinical matron.

1. Responsible for the development, planning and co-ordination of specialist treatment within a ward or department.
2. Assess patients, plan, implement and manage care.
3. Carry out specialist nursing procedures.
4. Provide specialist advice to patients and carers.
5. Undertake research and lead clinical audits in area.
6. Supervise a team of nursing/therapist and support staff.

Essential criteria
7. Registered General Nurse (level 1) Degree level, with significant post-registration experience (specialist or general, depending on requirements of the position)
8. Significant experience in an acute medical environment.
9. Evidence of continuing professional development
10. Demonstrate advanced communication skills to support patients and their carers and convey sensitive information, overcoming barriers to communication.
11. Manage the conflicting demands of team leader and clinical responsibilities.
12. Experience of supervising junior staff and students, and possess or be working towards being a Practice Supervisor or Assessor Supervisor.
13. Involvement in carrying out clinical audit including co-ordination, evaluation and service development.
14. Proven understanding of clinical governance with risk management, its importance and its application.
