Key Responsibilities As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Kirkdale, your responsibilities will include: Providing 1:1 SEN support to pupils with additional needs Supporting small group interventions focusing on literacy, numeracy, communication, and emotional regulation Assisting pupils to access the curriculum in line with their abilities Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs, IEPs, and behaviour support plans Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, sensory needs, and social interaction Promoting positive behaviour, independence, and confidence Working closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and support staff Supporting pupils during transitions, playtimes, and lunchtimes Using visual supports, sensory resources, and differentiated materials Monitoring progress and recording observations Supporting personal care where required (training provided if needed) Maintaining a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment Upholding safeguarding and child protection policies at all times The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will: Have experience supporting children with SEN in a school or care setting Be patient, empathetic, and emotionally resilient Have a good understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and communication needs Be confident supporting behaviour using positive strategies Be flexible, reliable, and proactive Have strong communication and teamwork skills Be available for an ASAP start Be fully committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing Experience with EHCPs, sensory integration techniques, or speech and language interventions is desirable but not essential.
