Edconic is owned by Cambridge Information Group, a family-owned investment firm since 1971 focused on long-term and meaningful ventures in education, technology, and information services. ​ Programme Information ​ Edconic’s Pre – College programmes provide students (ages 16-18) with an immersive environment in which they learn, investigate, and explore while having fun and meeting friends, mentors and instructors who share their passions and interests. It also gives intellectually curious students the opportunity to live and learn in a dynamic location while drawing upon the unrivalled expertise and access of The New York Times, Sotheby's Institute of Art, Vogue College of Fashion, Manchester City Sports Business School, and Wired Education, encouraging students to take their learning beyond the classroom and into the real world. ​ Purpose of the Role ​ Senior Programme Counsellors (SPCs) play a crucial role in the residential and social aspects of our pre-college programmes and focus on maintaining a safe living and learning community by upholding the Student and Family Handbook and building a community among the students. ​ Under the supervision of the Residential Hall Assistant Director (RHD), Senior PCs provide supervision over programme counsellors, as well as advisement and engagement opportunities for students residing on campus for the duration of the programmes. This is a live-in position, working up to40 hours per week with accommodation provided. ​ Senior PCs will typically work in afternoons and evenings with some exceptions or other assignments that may arise. Senior PCs will be expected to maintain communication with staff members as well as students via a mobile phone and other channels. ​ This position offers the following: ​ ​ An opportunity to work with a passionate team of diverse people Housing with a roommate and shift meals provided Chaperone events and trips to local attractions ​ Senior Programme Counsellors must complete 8 hours of online training prior to arrival (this will be paid). Senior Programme Counsellors move into the residence halls on Sunday 12 th July 2026 in preparation for training, which begins on Monday 13 th July 2026. Dates of the programme are as follows: ​ Move-in: 13 th July In Person Training: 13 th – 17 th July Term 1: 19 th July – 31 st July Term 2: 2 nd August – 14 th August Move-out: 15 th August ​ Duties and Responsibilities ​ Senior Programme Counsellors are primarily responsible for building and maintaining a strong, safe, and inclusive residential life community. Senior PCs set up all residential spaces prior to student arrival and hold floor meetings with their respective team of programme counsellors to disseminate important information to their community. Senior PCs complete an evening room check to ensure that all students are accounted for and document student incidents through Student Management Software (SMS). When activities happen off-campus, Senior PCs may escort students to and from events. Other responsibilities include: ​ ​ Responsible for the co-supervision of Programme Counsellors and students Assist in the residential check-in and check-out process ensuring that all students are properly moved into their residence hall and understand the policies therein Participate in Student Orientation events including diversity, equity and inclusion sessions and community building activities Support the physical and mental health of students and refer them to appropriate resources, as needed Attend weekly staff meetings Enforce programme policies and procedures to ensure that all participants remain safe throughout the programme, documenting violations and incidents as they arise Mediate roommate and peer conflicts Manage student and staff interactions using various student management software Complete room checks for a minimum of 5 nights a week Abide by Curfew and Proximity policy, when scheduled (see below) Assist in the logistics and coordination of co-curricular activities such as movie nights, arts events, community building activities and outings Event set up/break down Assist with administrative tasks which may include the use of technology such as apps, Microsoft Office and online based software Support the programme through other duties as assigned ​ The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an individual undertaking this position. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and skills, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may be reasonably be expected within the scope of the post ​ Person Specification – Skills & Experience ​ Essential Criteria: ​ Must be aged 18 or above and must be eligible to work in the UK Educated to university degree level (or equivalent) or currently studying at university level Previous residential life experience (summer camp, boarding school, university campus etc.) Experience of activity planning, facilitation, event co-ordination and/or proven organisational skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a hard-working and friendly delivery team Flexible and highly adaptable; quick and comfortable responding to a fast-moving environment Highly motivated and comfortable taking initiatives Keen interest in London culture and comfortable exploring it with students using public transport Physically fit and able to lead and supervise students across London Must be CPR certified or be willing to obtain prior to start of programme (details will be provided to successful candidates) ​ Desirable Criteria: ​ Ability to speak another language First aid and safeguarding trained, although training will be provided before the start of the programme ​ Curfew and Proximity In order to maintain student-to-staff ratios overnight, staff may be required to remain within a 15-minute walk of campus after 11pm on their working nights. Staff do not have curfew or proximity restrictions on their days off. ​ Safeguarding Requirements All staff will be working closely with children (under 18s) must successfully complete all mandatory safeguarding training before the programme begins.
