Make it a culture.We're looking for a confident, credible Safety & Risk Manager to lead the safety, fire and risk agenda at HMP Northumberland — one of the UK's largest justice sites.This is a high-impact role where you'll work alongside the prison Director and senior leadership team to embed a strong, visible safety culture aligned to our commitment:Target Zero Harm Every Day – Safe People, Safe Places and Safely Home.You won't just advise — you'll influence, challenge and drive real operational improvement.What you'll be responsible forActing as the site's Competent Person for fire and health & safety complianceEmbedding effective governance, risk and compliance frameworksLeading the integrated BS 9997 fire risk management system and ensuring fire strategies and risk assessments remain robust and compliantDriving measurable reductions in Lost Time Incidents, RIDDOR events, accidents and fire risksSupporting Directors and managers with safety tours, investigations, audits and risk reviewsEnsuring incidents are properly reported, investigated and lessons learned are sharedPromoting wellbeing through a proactive “Good Day at Work” approachRepresenting Sodexo in regulatory and external forumsYou'll also work closely with the wider Sodexo Justice Safety & Risk and SHEQ teams, contributing to continuous improvement across the UK Justice portfolio.What success looks likeStrong audit performance and swift closure of actionsFully compliant fire strategy and risk management systemsClear, visible leadership engagement in safetyManagers confident and competent in managing riskAccurate reporting, strong governance and improved safety performance trendsAbout youYou're technically strong but commercially aware.
