Job summary
Qualified Psychological Therapist to become part of the integrated mental health and justice pathway team within HMP Norwich, working within day care designed to support individuals presenting with risks of self-harm, suicide, and self‑destructive behaviours. The service provides structured and creative psychoeducational and therapeutic group interventions tailored to individual needs to promote learning, skill development, and sustained behavioural change.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join a continually developing service that offers therapeutic approaches underpinned by DBT, CBT and other psychological approaches. The service addresses mood stabilisation, anxiety, relationship management, emotional regulation, personality difficulties and trauma. Specifically working with men who may self‑harm, have attempted suicide, and/or experience high levels of anxiety or trauma/PTSD. The role includes a contribution in reducing self‑harm, self‑destructive and violent behaviour, working closely with partner agencies. Excellent therapeutic skills, cultural competency and flexibility in a busy prison environment are required.
Responsibilities
* Clinical work with male inmates at risk of self‑harm, suicide and high anxiety or trauma/PTSD.
* Contribute to reducing self‑harm, self‑destructive and violent behaviour.
* Work closely with partner agencies.
* Provide therapeutic interventions underpinned by DBT, CBT and other psychological approaches.
* Deliver structured and creative psychoeducational and therapeutic group interventions.
* Provide supervision and line management, training and development, staff wellbeing and resilience.
* Engage service users and support service development.
Qualifications
* Postgraduate diploma in CBT, CAT, family therapy or equivalent.
Registration
* Accreditation with BABCP or ACAT.
Experience
* Documentary evidence of continuing professional development.
* Group work in mental health.
* Training and ability to deliver DBT, EMDR, IPT.
Knowledge
* Specialist knowledge of CAT/CBT protocols and treatments.
* Willingness to share skills, experience and promote patient care.
