Futures Recruitment is partnering with a fast-growing client on the outskirts of Hull to recruit an experienced Service Desk Engineer. This role is perfect for someone with proven 1 st and 2nd line IT support experience who enjoys solving problems, improving systems, and working closely with people across a business. You’ll be the go-to person for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving IT issues — from everyday hardware glitches to complex network problems — ensuring smooth operations in a busy, manufacturing-driven environment. Responsibilities • Deliver 2nd line support for a wide range of hardware and software issues. • Diagnose and resolve problems with PCs, servers, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and networks. • Maintain and support manufacturing-specific IT systems and applications. • Provide support across Windows environments. • Conduct root cause analysis to reduce repeat incidents. • Keep IT documentation, asset registers, and user guides up to date. • Work with 1st and 3rd line teams to escalate and resolve complex issues. • Assist with the maintenance of IT infrastructure (switches, routers, Wi-Fi). • Ensure all work aligns with security and compliance standards. • Support IT-related projects, upgrades, and rollouts. Experience & Skills • Proven track record in 2nd line IT support. • Strong hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting skills (PCs, laptops, printers, barcode scanners). • Experience with manufacturing or industrial IT systems (desirable). • Self-motivated with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail. • Confident communicator, able to explain technical issues in plain English.
