As a totally independent body, not part of the pensions industry or government, we investigate and make decisions when someone has been unable to resolve a complaint about how their pension has been managed. Our service is free, but we have legal powers to make decisions that are final, binding, and enforceable in court. Purpose of the role The Legal Team is an integral part of and fully embedded within the wider operational and organisational structure. It works in active partnership with the Casework function across every Casework Team area and at every level; with lawyers and caseworkers collaborating closely and working to set clear objectives, agree workflows and provide aligned Legal support that enables consistent effective delivery of the Casework function. This is a pivotal role in managing the cross-functional aspects of the Legal Team’s day-to-day operations, providing coordination and operational support to facilitate the smooth and efficient delivery of Legal services. The role will support the Senior Legal Leadership Team which comprises the Deputy Chief Operating Officer (Legal) and Senior Counsel. You will not be required to have legal or pensions experience. Key duties Support the Senior Legal Leadership Team to focus on organisational priorities. Provide administrative, governance and secretariat support to the Senior Legal Leadership Team, including diary management, meeting preparation, drafting, and collating of papers. Act as a central point of coordination for cross functional activities between the Legal Team and the Casework Teams, including communications, reporting and workflow management. Work collaboratively with Legal colleagues, Caseworker Heads and Managers to understand agreed objectives and performance metrics for each team. Maintain an up-to-date awareness of Casework Teams objectives and performance metrics, ensuring alignment between Legal support and Casework priorities. Producing accurate, timely reports and data summaries for evaluation by the Senior Legal Leadership Team, supporting performance monitoring and inform decision making. Providing administrative and workflow process support to Legal colleagues with people management responsibilities. Maintain alignment between the Legal Team and Casework function fostering strong working relationships across all teams and levels. Monitor processes and systems to ensure operational efficiency, compliance and consistent delivery of high-quality Legal support. Work collaboratively with Legal colleagues recognising their experience and specialist expertise to facilitate effective Casework support. Develop a thorough understanding of Legal and Casework processes and functions with the ability to apply knowledge practically. Coordinate and collaborate with Corporate Services on the development and delivery of in-house Legal training. Be responsible for developing and embedding a review cycle for documents owned by the Legal Team. Support the Data Protection Officer when appropriate, in the management of information assets to ensure information is accurate and up to date. Work with the MI Analyst and the Senior Legal Leadership Team to prepare and track performance data.
