About the Role
Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in our SMR Division – a new era of mobile repair.
Where you’ll work
You’ll be part of the Ashford cluster, covering areas such as Ashford, Folkestone, Dover, Hythe, New Romney and Lydd. Your work will involve travelling locally on a clearly planned schedule of pre‑booked appointments – no reactive callouts, just organised, structured work that lets you focus on doing the job properly.
What to expect
Your day starts with a clear digital schedule. Each job is pre‑booked and the member expects you. You’ll carry out:
* Routine servicing
* Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
* In‑depth repairs that would normally be completed in a workshop
* Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
* Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards
Because SMR is structured, you’re not reacting to breakdowns – you’re delivering planned work that you can prepare for. From day one you’ll have a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, complete tool set and advanced diagnostics to support you.
What you’ll need
1. Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles
3. A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
