Band 5 Staff Nurse - Oncology Infusion Suite (East 1A)

The closing date is 06 November 2025

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our teams on our chemotherapy day unit Infusion Suite based at the QEHB on Ward East 1A. We are seeking to recruit motivated skilled nurses with a minimum of 12 months post registration experience to join our existing chemotherapy nursing team. Chemotherapy experience is preferable but not essential. All training is supported by the Systemic Anti-Cancer (SACT) Nurse Trainers. We are looking for someone who wants to increase their oncology experience and wants to work within this rewarding environment.

On the oncology treatment suite E1A we also administer a range of Systemic anti‑cancer treatment (SACT) including ambulatory chemotherapy. We provide supportive therapies, supporting patients and their families throughout a cancer diagnosis. A peripherally inserted central catheter service (PICC) is also provided. The unit also supports treatment for the teenage and young adult's specialist group (TYA) for oncology and haematology patients.

We aim to provide an individualized and supportive environment for patients. In each area you will be supported by a nursing leadership team who are present and will help you develop your skills to reach your full potential.

Main duties of the job

On the Treatment Suite (East 1A) we care for patients throughout their cancer pathway, undergoing diagnostic, curative and palliative procedures including the management of symptoms related to their treatments or their disease process. The unit administers SACT and supportive therapies, supporting patients and their families through their treatment journey. Your role will be varied, and you will be able to gain clinical skills such as triage, cannulation, venepuncture and central line care and SACT administration and assessment of new patients. If you have cannulation, phlebotomy, or central lines skills it will be an advantage, but if not, then you should have enthusiasm and dexterity to develop these skills.
