Overview
An exciting opportunity to join the Step 4 Primary Psychological Therapies Service working with older people. The successful applicant will be expected to lead in the development of the older adult psychology provision locally and more widely within CWP in line with national strategy drivers including the NHS 10-year plan. The service has established links with the local universities (Liverpool, Lancaster, and Manchester) providing opportunities to develop supervisory skills, support trainees with research projects/audits/service evaluations and input into teaching programmes.
Responsibilities
* Lead in service development for older adults and contribute to local and Trust-wide psychology provision, including clinical governance and high standards of clinical effectiveness.
* Provide assessments (including neuropsychological assessment), formulations, and therapeutic interventions (individual and group) to older people referred to the service.
* Support the wider team to develop psychological understandings of difficulties through consultation, supervision, and training.
* Take a lead in service evaluations, ensuring delivery of high-quality, responsive psychological interventions and upholding professional standards.
* Provide clinical, management, and professional supervision to other qualified psychological practitioners in the team; support the Professional Lead for Step 4.
* Develop supervisory skills and contribute to teaching programmes and trainee support in collaboration with university partners.
* Engage with voluntary sectors and professional bodies (e.g., HCPC/BPS/DCP/FPOP) to address psychological or organisational matters in partnership with the Professional Lead.
* Contribute to continual professional development opportunities for team members and participate in regular service development meetings.
* Utilise flexible working arrangements (remote and face-to-face) as appropriate to role and service needs.

About the service
The Older Adult Step 4 Psychology Team is part of the stepped care model in Primary Care. We work closely with other steps and teams within the trust, including the Talking Therapies Service and the Community Mental Health Team for Older People (including the memory clinic). We provide assessment (including neuropsychological assessment), consultation, and therapeutic interventions for older people referred to our service. We are a supportive, enthusiastic team that meets regularly to share ideas on service development and delivery, recognising individuality and supporting professional growth.
Role expectations
The post holder will develop the skills to lead service evaluations, maintain high clinical standards, and support clinical governance. They will provide clinical, management, and professional supervision and contribute to ensuring senior-level leadership within the team.

Induction and start date
All new starters commence on one fixed start date each month, in line with our Prepare to Care (P2C) induction programme date. P2C offers up to 3 weeks of training to meet induction/initial training requirements.
Application and expectations
The successful applicant will liaise with relevant voluntary sectors and professional bodies to address psychological or organisational matters in conjunction with the Professional Lead. You will be responsible for providing assessments, formulations, and interventions, including neuropsychological interpretation of highly complex information. The post holder will join an established and growing team with ongoing opportunities for training and development. The service currently offers flexible working with a mix of remote and face-to-face delivery.
