This team supports our global reinsurance operations by developing in-house risk assessments related to natural catastrophes, evaluating catastrophe models, and collaborating with academic research partners. The team works with brokers, clients, and industry partners to improve property risk quantification, develop innovative risk management solutions, and assess third-party catastrophe models.
The selected candidate will lead wildfire risk assessment, model evaluation, and development efforts worldwide. Serve as the primary wildfire risk advisor to clients, interpreting and presenting model results and explaining wildfire risk intricacies.
Represent Gallagher Re as a thought leader on wildfire risk within the industry.
Lead research and evaluation of wildfire catastrophe models, providing validated reports supported by detailed evidence.
Manage wildfire catastrophe model development projects for risk quantification.
Innovate to deliver customized risk solutions to clients.
Stay updated on the latest wildfire research, including climate change impacts, and contribute to scientific literature.
Manage multiple research and model development projects with tight deadlines.
Lead a team of scientists to ensure high-quality work that addresses client and stakeholder questions.
Communicate effectively with team members, business units, brokers, and clients.
Coordinate with global offices and participate in business travel as needed.
Work with academic partners to align research with technical and commercial goals.
Present findings at industry and academic conferences.
PhD in Natural Hazards, Earth Sciences, or equivalent experience.
Proficient in programming languages such as R, Python, SQL, including spatial data analysis and visualization.
Deep understanding of (re)insurance and catastrophe risk management.
