To support the Management Accounts team to deliver an effective and efficient financial management service across the Trust. To deliver an effective and competent level of clerical support which promotes good customer service and effective working relationships.
Work is supervised by the Finance Business Partner.
Main duties of the job
* To provide support for the preparation, review, analysis and monitoring of budget reports in accordance with the monthly financial reporting timetable.
* To calculate and enter accrual and prepayment transactions in the general ledger as required under the supervision of the Finance Business Partner.
* To assist in the preparation of returns to external bodies as required for review by the senior Management Accounts team.
* To assist in the production of accurate ad hoc reports under the guidance of the Finance Business Partner.
* To assist in the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts for the assigned Divisions/Directorates under the guidance of the Finance Business Partner, ensuring accurate working papers are maintained.
* To ensure all departmental procedure notes are kept up to date.
* Co-ordinate, prepare and input into the ledger system actual and budget journals to ensure planned and actual expenditure is recorded under appropriate account and cost centre codes.
* To prepare and upload expenditure and budget journals and ensure journal logs are complete, journals are authorised and include appropriate supporting information.
* To monitor funded establishments and co-ordinate the authorisation of recruitment request and change forms.
* To undertake any ad hoc or other duties that may be reasonably required.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential criteria
* Relevant Maths, ICT and English qualification GCSE level or equivalent literacy
* Actively studying towards AAT intermediate level NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Essential criteria
* Highly Developed keyboard skills with a high degree of accuracy
* Good communication (written and verbal) and listening skills
* Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise own workload and work in a changing environment
* Ability to motivate yourself and meet deadlines particularly when working from home
* Able to progress issues using knowledge gained and initiative
* Able to deal sensitively and responsibly with confidential information
* Able to influence, negotiate and communicate in difficult situations to overcome potential barriers
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
* Competent user of MS Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
* Experience of proving a service to wider organisation or customers
Desirable criteria
* NHS finance experience
* Knowledge of VAT legislation as applicable to the NHS
* Experience using a financial system in a large organisation
