At Aster Group, we believe that change is most powerful when it’s well-coordinated, insight-driven, and aligned with what matters most - our customers and communities. We’re looking for a Portfolio Manager to join our Portfolio Management Office (PMO) and help us make every initiative count.

This is your chance to play a pivotal role in shaping how we deliver change across the organisation. You’ll support strategic oversight of our change portfolio, ensuring initiatives are prioritised, sequenced, and resourced effectively. Your work will enable informed decision-making and help us achieve real impact.

Change doesn’t happen in isolation, it takes planning, collaboration, and clarity. In this role, you’ll:

* Keep the big picture in focus, maintaining and optimising the portfolio plan.
* Enable smarter decisions, tracking benefits, risks, and resources.
* Champion consistency, ensuring delivery standards and governance are applied across all initiatives.
* Collaborate widely, working with programme teams, Strategy and Insight, and senior stakeholders to align plans with organisational priorities.


What we’re looking for

You’re organised, analytical, and thrive in a dynamic environment. You’ll bring:

* Experience in portfolio, programme, or project support within complex organisations.
* Strong understanding of portfolio planning, resource tracking, and risk management.
* Excellent organisational and analytical skills.
* Great communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
* Familiarity with governance frameworks and standards.
* Ideally, a relevant professional qualification (e.g., PfMP, Prince2, Lean Six Sigma).


This is a hybrid role so you’ll be able to base yourself from home if you wish. Travel will be required for the role to meet with stakeholders, attend meetings and spend time with the team, so being happy to travel within our operating region is a must.

Our operating region includes Hampshire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and London.

Introduction to the PMO

The Portfolio Management Office is a newly formed strategic function designed to evolve our Group-wide approach to change delivery. It provides a holistic view of all change activity, ensuring initiatives are prioritised, sequenced, and resourced in line with organisational capacity.

Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, the PMO aligns plans with corporate strategy and strategic priorities, supports effective decision-making, and ensures value for money. By embedding consistent frameworks, standards, and governance, the PMO enables high-quality delivery across the change portfolio and drives continuous improvement.

This function is central to achieving our long-term goals, ensuring every change initiative contributes to organisational success and delivers measurable benefits for our colleagues and customers.
