Overview
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join the West Dorset Therapies Team based at Forston Clinic. In this role, you will support people whose lives have been impacted by mental illness, helping them reconnect with meaningful and purposeful occupations following periods of occupational disruption. Your work will be central to promoting recovery, independence, and wellbeing throughout the patients admission. Deliver high-quality, person-centred Occupational Therapy interventions, ensuring safety, privacy, and dignity at all times. Support patients during their inpatient admission and play a key role in their transition back into the community. Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Develop strong links with community and third-sector organisations, using social prescribing to connect individuals with meaningful community resources.

About You
Motivated and compassionate, with a strong commitment to person-centred, recovery-focused care. To understand the value of partnership working and to be enthusiastic about supporting individuals to rebuild skills, confidence, and participation in everyday life. Your work will aim to encourage engagement in meaningful and purposeful occupation with people whose lives have been affected by occupational disruption as a result of mental illness. You will be required to provide a high-quality person-centred approach to care delivery that always considers peoples safety, privacy and dignity, and to deliver person-centred interventions that support patients with their inpatient admission and transition back into the community. You will collaborate closely with community resources, offering social prescribing and linking patients into third sector organisations. To plan and facilitate occupational therapy led groups and 1:1 activities, tailored to the patient group within the framework laid down by the Occupational Therapist. To implement and evaluate delegated occupational therapy interventions for service users in activities relating to their care and treatment. To support patients in the community using both 1:1 and group work. To carry out administrative duties on the ward including taking responsibility for designated tasks. To liaise with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure effective delivery of occupational therapy. To enhance their own clinical and organisational skills to meet the needs of patients and the organisation.
