Academics, Canterbury are currently working with a number of schools in East Kent who are seeking a dedicated Year 7 Transition Support Assistant. The aim of this role is to work closely with students who are entering secondary school for the first time and support them in their academic and social development. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with students on a one-to-one or small group basis to ensure they are supported in adjusting to secondary school life.
Key Responsibilities:
Build positive relationships with Year 7 students and support them in their academic progress
Deliver group sessions to help support student's transition from primary to secondary school
Monitor student's progress and report any concerns to teachers and senior staff
Provide pastoral and emotional support to students, helping with any issues they may face during the transition period
Liaise with primary school staff to gather information about student's needs and requirements
Attend regular meetings with senior staff to discuss progress and provide feedback on student's performance
Create and maintain student progress reportsRequirements:
Ideally possessed a degree in education or related field
Previous experience working in a secondary school environment is desirable
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work well in a team
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Understanding of safeguarding procedures and the ability to apply them in practice
