The vacancy
We are looking for a proactive and organised Work Placement Coordinator to join our team at Doncaster College. You will play a key role in supporting learners to gain meaningful, high-quality work placement experiences that enhance their studies, develop employability skills and prepare them for their next steps.
Working closely with curriculum teams, employers and students, you will help plan, coordinate and monitor work placements across a wide range of subject areas, ensuring all activity meets safeguarding, health and safety and funding requirements. This is a varied role that suits someone who enjoys building relationships, managing multiple priorities and making a real difference to learners’ outcomes.
This is a Term Time 38 weeks per year role, working 35.5 hours per week.
Salary will be £23,201 - £24,360
Key responsibilities
1. Support the planning, organisation and delivery of work placements across the College curriculum
2. Liaise with curriculum teams, students and employers to ensure placements are well-matched and effectively supported
3. Organise and attend placement visits to monitor progress and resolve any issues promptly
4. Carry out and maintain health and safety checks and risk assessments for placement settings
5. Support students to prepare for placements, including briefings, documentation and DBS processes
6. Maintain accurate records and databases of employer contacts and placement activity
7. Provide clear and professional communication with internal teams and external partners
Essential criteria
8. Experience of working with young people, ideally within an education or training setting
9. Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence working with students, staff and employers
11. A good standard of IT skills, including word processing and spreadsheets
12. Flexibility, initiative and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Let’s Bloom
The LET’s Bloom Programme aims to connect our experienced and qualified teachers to share best practice and support continued risk-taking as we continue to add depth to our teaching craft. Teachers volunteer on this one year programme, working closely with the Learning Enhancement Team, capturing their experimentation in a journal.
