Description Facilities Maintenance Support Permanent Grade 3 - £27,254 - £33,699 pro rata - Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review Working 18.25 hours per week To support the Facilities & Systems Management Team ensuring that the Library of Birmingham premises operate safely and smoothly. Providing general handyman repairs and support within the Library Responding to jobs allocated by the Library’s own FM Helpdesk and FM Facts database. Performing tasks which include painting and decorating, repairs to fixtures and fittings, flooring, portering, housekeeping and assistance with setup, configuration, and other equipment required for events held in the Library. Working at heights as required using steps or a cherry picker. Helping the Library maintain a safe and effective working environment and public spaces. Ability to perform general handyperson work to a good standard and work effectively with external contractors Providing portering services and follow safe manual handling procedures Overseeing loading bay operations ensuring Health and Safety through good housekeeping and acting as a Banksman as required. Supporting Community Library van service by helping to sort books to load onto and off vehicles as required. Ability to work flexibly and change work patterns as needed and sometimes at short notice to meet changing priorities Providing driver cover to the Community Library Van Driver Service for leave cover with occasional requirement to drive a 4.5 tonne LGV vehicle to undertake deliveries of books. Manual handling skills able to load and move crates of books on and off vehicles using a sack truck and tail lift Ideally possessing a current and valid Driving Licence Category C although those with Category B will be considered Please upload an up-to-date CV and Personal Statement via the attachments part of your application.
